Product Overview

Power quality refers to the quality of AC electrical energy supplied to end-users via the public power grid; in simpler terms, it describes the condition of the electrical energy as it travels through the grid. Power-quality problems are primarily caused by loads at the distribution end. For example, impulsive reactive loads can induce severe voltage fluctuations in the grid, thereby degrading power-supply quality.

With the advancement of power electronics technology, while it has brought significant benefits to modern industry in terms of energy conservation and efficient power conversion, the widespread application of power electronic devices across various sectors has also introduced new and more severe impairments to power quality, making them a major source of harmonic pollution in power grids.

The number of rectifiers, variable-frequency drives, electric arc furnaces, electrified railways, and various power electronic devices used in distribution networks at the user end of the power grid is steadily increasing. These devices impose adverse impacts on the power supply network—often referred to as “power quality pollution”—such as voltage instability, overvoltage, and harmonic distortion. Harmonics reduce the efficiency of power generation, transmission, and utilization; cause overheating, vibration, and noise in electrical equipment; accelerate insulation aging and shorten equipment life; and may even lead to equipment failure or burnout. Moreover, harmonics can trigger parallel or series resonance in localized sections of the power system, amplifying harmonic content and potentially causing the destruction of capacitors and other equipment.

The nonlinear, impulsive, and unbalanced load characteristics of these loads severely degrade power quality. Therefore, eliminating higher-order harmonic distortion in power supply and distribution systems is of great significance for improving power quality and ensuring the safe, stable, and economical operation of the power system.

On the other hand, modern industrial, commercial, and residential electrical equipment is increasingly sensitive to power quality, placing higher demands on the quality of power supply. Currently, harmonics, electromagnetic interference, and low power factor are recognized as the three major sources of pollution in power systems.

When the power quality of the grid is disturbed or polluted and fails to meet relevant national standards, targeted measures must be implemented to improve it. To gain a clear understanding of the actual power quality conditions in the grid, it is essential to use appropriate equipment for testing and analysis. In light of China’s specific circumstances, our company has timely developed and manufactured specialized power-quality analyzers that are well-suited to the national context. The following sections provide a detailed description of the analyzer’s specific performance characteristics, technical parameters, and methods of operation.

Product Features

  1. This instrument is a high-precision testing device specifically designed to detect power quality issues in power grids, such as waveform distortion, harmonic content, voltage fluctuations, and three-phase imbalance; it also features electrical parameter measurement, vector analysis, and historical data review capabilities.
  2. It can accurately measure a wide range of electrical parameters, including voltage, current, active power, reactive power, phase angle, power factor, and frequency.
  3. It can display vector diagrams of the measured voltage and current, allowing users to determine whether the metering equipment is wired correctly by analyzing these diagrams.
  4. Current is measured using clamp-on current transformers. This method allows operators to perform measurements conveniently and safely without having to break the current circuit. Depending on the user’s measurement range, clamp meters with different ranges can be selected.
  5. It can measure and analyze the quality of AC power supplied from the public grid to the user end, including frequency deviation, voltage deviation, voltage fluctuations, flicker, permissible three-phase voltage unbalance, and grid harmonics.
  6. It can display single-phase voltage and current waveforms, as well as three-phase voltage and current waveforms simultaneously.
  7. All test interfaces are equipped with a screen-lock function to facilitate reading and data analysis.
  8. Load Fluctuation Monitoring: Measures and analyzes the fluctuations in power quality caused by various electrical loads on the public power grid under different operating conditions. It periodically records and stores the trend changes of electrical parameters such as voltage, current, active power, reactive power, apparent power, frequency, and phase.
  9. Dynamic monitoring of power equipment adjustment and operation processes helps users resolve issues that arise during equipment adjustment and commissioning.
  10. Capable of testing and analyzing the dynamic parameters of reactive power compensation and filtering devices in power systems, and of conducting quantitative evaluations of their functions and technical specifications.
  11. Different storage interval times can be set, and data will be continuously stored at the specified intervals.
  12. An external high-capacity SD card data logger can continuously record data at 1-minute intervals for more than 18 months, meeting the requirements of long-term monitoring at test sites.
  13. The instrument is equipped with a USB interface, allowing data to be easily copied to the backend management computer via a USB flash drive.
  14. When used in conjunction with powerful data management software, USB drive data can be directly uploaded to the backend management computer for more comprehensive and faster processing.
  15. Equipped with a perpetual calendar and clock function, it displays the date and time in real time. While conducting on-site testing, it can simultaneously save test data and results, which can then be uploaded to a computer via a USB flash drive. Using the optional background management software, data can be managed digitally, with robust reporting capabilities.
  16. It features a large-screen, imported color LCD display with a Chinese-language operating interface, complete with Chinese character prompts and multi-parameter display, providing a user-friendly human-machine interaction interface.
  17. After 3 minutes of inactivity, the LCD display automatically enters power-saving mode to maximize battery life.
  18. Conductive silicone keys offer a pleasant tactile feel, long service life, rational design, and convenient operation.
  19. Equipped with a high-capacity, high-performance lithium-ion rechargeable battery that delivers over 10 hours of continuous operation on a full charge.
