Product Overview

China’s power system employs a two-part tariff: in addition to charges based on actual energy consumption as measured by the metering device, a basic charge is levied according to transformer capacity; moreover, large consumers are required to pay a one-time capacity-expansion fee when putting new transformers into service. With the development of the power industry and the corresponding increase in electricity consumption, privately owned transformers and those contracted for by individuals have gradually come to account for a substantial share of distribution transformers. Consequently, individuals have resorted to various deceptive practices—primarily by altering or replacing transformer nameplates—in order to reduce their bills while increasing their electricity usage. In some cases, annual electricity theft amounts to hundreds of thousands of yuan, leaving power utilities struggling due to the lack of effective control measures.

The Active Transformer Characteristic–Capacity Comprehensive Tester is a high-precision instrument specially developed by our company to address this very issue, designed exclusively for measuring transformer capacity and loss parameters. It features a built-in high-efficiency rechargeable battery, enabling operation without an external power supply; a single charge allows for continuous measurements on up to 500 units. Moreover, the instrument internally generates a digitally synthesized three-phase standard sinusoidal signal—by no means a simple inverter-based AC output—thereby ensuring the accuracy of test data under non-rated conditions. This signal is then amplified by a power amplifier to provide a precise three-phase AC test source. When measuring transformer capacity and short-circuit losses, there is no need to connect an external three-phase test power supply or auxiliary equipment such as voltage regulators and current boosters, which simplifies wiring and significantly enhances work efficiency.

The capacity test results achieve 100% accuracy. This single instrument functions as four: an active transformer capacity tester, a transformer loss parameter tester, a harmonic analyzer, and an oscilloscope. It enables precise measurement of a wide range of power-frequency parameters for various transformers, including capacity, no-load current, no-load losses, short-circuit losses, and impedance voltage. Additionally, it can measure voltage and current distortion factors as well as harmonic content during no-load and load tests, and it also supports vector analysis.

This instrument boasts a compact footprint, lightweight design, high measurement accuracy, excellent stability, and simple, easy-to-learn operation, making it fully capable of replacing the conventional multi-meter method for measuring transformer losses and capacity. Its wiring is straightforward, and testing and data recording are convenient, significantly boosting work efficiency. Featuring a large-color LCD display with menu-driven operation and Chinese character prompts, it presents multiple parameters on a single screen in a user-friendly human–machine interface that is both simple and quick to use, making it the preferred choice for power utilities at all levels.

Product Features

1. Accurately measures the capacity of various distribution transformers using passive measurement, offering convenience and high accuracy.

2. Built-in power supply that automatically generates a high-power three-phase test power source.

3. It can measure no-load current, no-load loss, short-circuit voltage, and short-circuit loss for various types of transformers.

4. No-load tests can accurately identify the model of the transformer under test, including S7, S9, S11, S13, S15, as well as dry-type transformers such as SCB9, SCB10, and SCB11.

5. It can automatically perform waveform distortion correction, temperature correction (offering both simple temperature correction and separate correction for additional losses), voltage correction (for no-load tests conducted at non-rated voltages), and current correction (for short-circuit tests conducted under non-rated current conditions), making it particularly well suited for organizations that lack the facilities to conduct short-circuit tests on larger-capacity transformers.

6. Capable of measuring harmonic content and total harmonic distortion of voltage and current.

7. Simple vector analysis and vector diagram plotting are supported.

8. Display waveforms of all electrical parameters for use as an oscilloscope.

9. Wide measurement range for the voltage circuit: The maximum measurable voltage is 750 V, and accuracy is maintained without switching ranges. Incorrect selection of the voltage range will not damage the instrument.

10. Capacity measurement range: 20 kVA to 100,000 kVA.

11. The battery-remaining-charge-percentage indicator is by no means a mere low-battery alarm.

12. A large, high-brightness color LCD display with a fully Chinese-language menu and on-screen operation prompts enables user-friendly human–machine interaction; conductive silicone touch keys simplify operation and extend key lifespan.

13. Users can print test results at any time using the built-in microprinter.

14. Test result storage function: capable of storing 200 sets of capacity test data.
